August in Andalucia

August was another busy month here in Andalucia with six families joining us and also two groups of road cyclists. We made the most of the cooler mornings and rode under clear blue skies, stopping for refreshments at some of our favourite tapa's bars and restaurants in the surrounding villages. Second breakfast mid ride is great! For me toast topped with olive oil, fresh bull tomatoes and sea salt washed down with a 'cafe con leche', always does the trick. I've stopped rubbing the toast with a clove of garlic as Claire was protesting to much when I got home, well to be truthful she said I stank (of garlic), a little harsh but........

The families enjoyed lazy afternoons around the pool in Montecorto or at the Farmhouse Hotel, mid week we went to 'La Playita' (the beach in the mountains), armed with super soakers, inflatable toys and a picnic. La Playita is a lagoon with lifeguards and diving platforms which is surrounded by a lawned area with picnic tables, trees and tropical stylee umbrellas. A couple of beers from the bar followed by icecreams and a few hours reading and chatting and the warm summer afternoons just drifted away.

La Playita

Congratulations to Kenneth (Aged 9) and Calum (Aged 6) who rode 160km in their week with us, I do believe this is a family record. Also to Becki (Aged 11) and Adam (Aged 8) who rode 78km and also to Mark (Aged 9) and Alice (Aged 12) who rode 121km during their weeks in Andalucia. Fantastic achievements by all, well done.

Grazalema Natural Park

I cant remeber the last time it rained here, so, if you are fed up of riding in the wet and want to feel the sun of your face whilst riding in shorts and t-shirt, then it's not too late to squeeze in a trip to southern Spain this year! You know it makes sense!

Well that's all from us for another month, we are off to enjoy a cold beer or two, for me, and a glass of rioja or three, for Claire, on the terrace.

As ever keep the wheels turning, enjoy your riding and be Passionate about Pedalling, Bonkers about Bikes and Mad about Mountains.

See you all soon,

Best Wishes

Ashley & Claire
