Last month in Montecorto.... Peter came over for his third week of training for the Cape Epic, which is later this month in South Africa. Peter's first trip was last summer when he had enrolled for the Cape Epic, but had no mountain biking experience. Over his 3 trips we have worked on his technical skills and of course his Endurance. Sometimes, as you can seefrom the picture, things don't always go to plan, however, Peter wasn't hurt in this fall, he got up, brushed himself down and absolutely creamed it the second time round. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a photo the second time....sorry Peter!! For this final training stint with us in February, we replicated the daily distance and amount of climbing for the event. Peter left feeling confident in his ability to complete the event. Here is what Peter said about his third trip:- We wish Peter the very best of luck with the Cape Epic in South Africa. We also had a group of lads over from Ireland for a Winter Training Camp and we had a great time. For me the high-light of the week was riding down to San Pedro on the Costa del Sol and back. The conditions were perfect for the ride, 18 degrees sunny and a cool breeze. We had a 13 kilometre climb out of Ronda followed by a fast flat section through the mountains and a fantastic 22km descent down to the coast with views across the Med towards Africa. We had coffee and lunch turned round and rode straight back up those 22km. What a great day! Here is what they had to say about their week with us:- Alan, Pat, John and Eunan from Dublin, Winter Road Cycling Holiday, February 2009, said 'We enjoyed a great week of cycling around Montecorto, this was an experience we will recommend to our friends. Travelling around rural Spain on its perfect road surfaces. We will be back for more!' This week we have 6 Canadians over for a Winter Training Camp can't wait to get out on the road bike again. Finally, the Mayor of Montecorto has given us permission to build a mountain bike track in the woods above the village. We will over the coming months be planning and constructing the route. Keep a look out for more information about our progress with this. |
In February we only lost one day riding to wet weather! How many did you lose? As ever happy pedalling and we hope to see you all soon. Best Wishes Ashley & Claire |
